  • Successfully represented an individual charged with involuntary manslaughter arising out of a snowmobile accident by securing a dismissal of the case.

  • Successfully represented a medical health care provider charged with murdering and poisoning patients at a Veteran’s Hospital.  After a six-month federal trial and extended litigation the case was dismissed.

  • Successfully represented a large European non-profit corporation sued in U.S. federal court for fraud, breach of contract and related claims.

  • Successfully represented a former spouse in receiving a substantial recovery against her former husband for allegedly hiding marital assets.

  • Obtained a verdict against a municipality that had refused to permit the mining of silica sand valued at half-a-billion dollars.

  • Successfully represented the estate of the department chair of a university killed in an automobile crash.

  • Represented the estate of a passenger killed in a head-on auto crash with a truck.

  • Defended a national rail carrier in a personal injury claim for traumatic brain injury.

    Represented large national bank in a foreign-letter-of-credit supported domestic revolving line of credit facility to the domestic subsidiary of a large foreign automotive industry supplier.

    Represented large national bank providing credit facilities to American subsidiaries supported by subordinated indebtedness owed to multiple Korean parent entities.

  • Successfully defended multiple retiree health benefit class actions brought by former union employees alleging that modifications to their health benefits violated the terms of collective bargaining agreements.

  • Successfully defended employer in lawsuit brought by employee who was terminated shortly upon his return from medical leave.

  • Defended Fortune 500 companies in lawsuits arising out of denials of claims for ERISA-covered disability, severance and pension benefits.

  • Represented public employer in putative class action lawsuit alleging that female nurse practitioners were paid less than male physicians assistants.

  • Represented Second City Capital Partners II, LP, on the spin-out and "roll up" of more than 20 companies holding 16 office properties consisting of 1.85 million sq. ft. of rentable space in five states, and the initial public offering of City Office REIT, Inc.'s common stock. 

  • Represented syndicated financial institutions in connection with complex excise tax fraud scheme involving numerous competing creditors (including State and Federal authorities) totaling more than of $100,000,000 in claims.

  • Investigated, recovered and liquidated assets for numerous financial institutions ranging from jet aircraft, helicopters, boats and luxury recreation and motor vehicles.

  • Managed aviation and avionics company through probate proceedings, NTSB investigation and wrongful death claims; preserved and liquidated aircraft and avionics equipment.

  • Represented a client charged with violation of federal election laws, resulting in a not guilty verdict on all counts at trial. 

  • Represented an automobile supplier in connection with a patent infringement claim, successfully securing an eight-figure damages settlement.

  • Represented a national road construction company in connection with a federal criminal antitrust investigation, successfully convincing the Department of Justice not to seek an indictment.

  • Reached a favorable resolution on behalf of a medical services provider in a breach of contract dispute with former medical billing company.  

  • Successfully defended a Canadian waste management company in a breach of contract dispute in U.S. court. 

  • Successfully represented a security company in a contract dispute with multiple commercial entities. 

  • Successfully represented a Canadian clothing designer in a contract dispute in an Ontario court with a former consultant, obtaining judgment against the consultant. 

  • Represented multiple U.S. based manufacturers in sales commissions disputes filed in Michigan. 

  • Handled a portfolio of premises liability cases on behalf of a national retailer, resulting primarily in summary dismissals.  

  • Successfully represented a digital media company in a copyright dispute with a television network and a multinational alcohol distributor relating to the use of copyrighted materials in an advertising campaign.

  • Successfully represented a high-end food distributor in a trademark dispute with a competitor relating to the competitor’s trademark infringement and false designation of origin of goods. 

  • Successfully represented a multinational manufacturer in a trademark dispute against a former employee who was misappropriating trademarks as part of a bait and switch scheme, obtaining judgment against the former employee and a permanent injunction enjoining the wrongful activities.  

  • Represents professional athletes, in securing employment and negotiating contract terms.

  • Advised a winner of a reality singing competition and assisted with the negotiation of contract terms.  

  • Negotiates the terms of performance and venue contracts on behalf of singers, musicians, and performance venues.  

  • Advises artists, singers, musicians, and athletes on various intellectual property issues.   

  • Represents musicians in copyright disputes with record companies and other musicians.  

  • After obtaining summary dismissal of contract claims brought by campaign volunteers against former political candidate, successfully represented client before the Michigan Court of Appeals, who affirmed the trial court’s decision.  

  • After obtaining summary dismissal of claims brought by an automotive supplier against another automotive supplier, briefed appellate response leading opposing party to dismiss the appeal.  

  • After the trial court granted summary disposition and issued an injunction in favor of a homeowners’ association against a purchaser, successfully represented purchaser before the Michigan Court of Appeals, who reversed and remanded.  

  • Reviewed documents for responsiveness and privilege in large-scale document review for client sued by supplier and investigated by the Department of Justice for antitrust violations. For civil lawsuit, helped prepare privilege log and identified documents that may aid in depositions.

  • Assisted client in product liability litigation by conducting second review of documents to ensure consistent responsiveness and privilege coding. The nature of the review also required assisting the client by redacting sensitive information from documents to ensure compliance with privacy laws.

  • Advised and represent a manufacturer of highly specialized noise control devices within a dispute over the performance of a supply agreement. Won extraordinary limitation of contractual damages to 1/10th the stipulated amount. 

  • Advised a major capital group in reorganization, including mergers and shareholding shifts within the group – commercial law aspects. 

  • Represented a high technology corporation against a nine-figure patent infringement claim, successfully securing a no-cause verdict at trial.

  • Represented an individual charged with involuntary manslaughter arising out of a trucking accident, securing a not guilty verdict at trial.

  • Represented a university professor charged with violating sanctions against Iraq, securing a not guilty verdict on all counts at trial.

  • Served as part of a trial team in litigation between members of an LLC and drafted that trial brief that resulted in a multi-million dollar judgment and attorneys’ fees for the client in Illinois state court.

  • Served as part of a trial team that successfully obtained a $1.2 million jury verdict and judgment in the Western District of North Carolina on theories of trade dress infringement and unfair competition. Played a primary role in drafting the appellee’s brief, leading to affirmation of the judgment by the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
