Propane Gas Company Class Action

Represented a company accused in a class action suit of violating the Michigan Consumer Protection Act by overpricing the propane gas it sold to Michigan consumers. Concurrently with the private class action, the Michigan Attorney General issued a cease and desist order demanding that the company stop violating the Michigan Consumer Protection Act and issue refunds to consumers who paid the allegedly excessive prices. Within a six-week timeframe, Richard and his team were able to marshal the resources necessary to counter the allegations of both the putative class representative and the Michigan Attorney General. Their counter-offensive resulted in favorable resolution of the Attorney General’s actions, including a finding that the client did not engage in price gouging. In addition, the class action was dismissed with prejudice.
