October 15, 2025

Miller Canfield is pleased to announce that Morgan Peters has joined the firm’s Financial Institutions Group in Detroit.

Peters brings significant experience advising on consumer financial regulations in high-volume lending environments. Most recently, she served as corporate counsel at United Wholesale Mortgage, where she counseled business and compliance teams on regulatory requirements under TILA, RESPA, FCRA, ECOA, and UDAAP, ensuring compliance in credit reporting, servicing, and consumer communications.

Her practice background also includes commercial real estate transactions, immigration law, and corporate compliance. Peters began her legal career at Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick LLP in Toledo, where she focused on commercial real estate matters, and later practiced at Ellis Porter in Ann Arbor.

Peters earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Toledo College of Law, where she completed the International Law Certificate of Concentration with distinction and served as president of the International Law Society. She received her B.A. in political science, magna cum laude, from Wayne State University.

“We’re excited to welcome Morgan to our Financial Institutions Group,” said Miller Canfield CEO Michael Palizzi. “Her background in financial regulation, corporate experience, and transactional skills will enhance our ability to serve financial institutions in Michigan and across the country.”
