Miller Canfield Updates Michigan Employment Law Handbook

April 21, 2005

Due to considerable changes to the laws governing how an employer must treat employees, attorneys from the Labor and Employment Law Group of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. have updated the 2005 Employment Law Handbook: Guide for Michigan Employers, published by the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. Originally written by Miller Canfield in 1995, the book helps employers of all sizes comply with labor and employment law regulations in Michigan.

The updated handbook has numerous new sections including a guide to conducting your own HR audit and a sample affirmative action plan. The book also covers topics such as the new FLSA overtime rules that went into effect in August 2004, as well as military discrimination, MIOSHA reorganization and increased fines, updates on workers compensation and harassment issues, new HIPAA deadlines, and immigration issues.

The cost of the Handbook Kit is $189 plus shipping and tax, which includes the 630-page handbook, a CD containing essential forms and letters to help run a compliant HR program, a subscription to a monthly e-newsletter, and free access to a labor law hotline for no-cost HR advice. An electronic version is also available.

For information about the handbook or to order a copy, call the Michigan Chamber of Commerce at 1-888-763-0514 ext 204, or visit www.michamber.com.
