Miller Canfield Attorney Provides Leadership

Megan P. Norris, a principal in the Detroit office of the law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C., is the new chair of the Detroit Board of Police Commissioners. Formerly vice-chair, she was appointed to the Commission in 2001 by Mayor Dennis Archer.

Ms. Norris practices in the firm's Labor Department concentrating in the area of employment litigation defense. She joined Miller Canfield after receiving her law degree from the University of Michigan in 1986.

She is a member of the American Bar Association (Litigation and Employment Law Sections), the State Bar of Michigan, and is the current president of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association. She also is a current member of the Labor Advisory Board for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education and serves on the board of trustees of Wesleyan University. She is a former president of the Detroit Barristers' Association; board of trustees for the Deaf, Hearing & Speech Center; board of trustees for the Wayne State University Episcopal Chaplaincy; and board of directors of the Whitaker School of Theology.

She resides in Detroit.
