Michigan Department of Environmental Quality Director Guest of Honor at May 15 Event with Automotive Industry

April 21, 2003

Steven E. Chester, the newly appointed director of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, is the guest of honor at a special reception held Thursday, May 15 from 3-6 p.m. at the Somerset Inn at 2601 W. Big Beaver Road in Troy. Hosted by the law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. and the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG), the reception is an opportunity for the automotive community to learn more about Chester’s recently established Stakeholder Committee, his enforcement policy and what it will mean for Michigan and the automotive industry, and provide feedback from an industry standpoint.

Chester is one of Michigan's best-known and ablest environmental lawyers. After seven years with Miller Canfield, he left in December 2002 to take the position in Governor Granholm’s administration. In addition to his experience at the law firm, he has worked for the EPA, been an assistant attorney general in Michigan, and worked in the environmental enforcement division of Wayne County.

All are welcome to attend the reception. Cost is $25 and includes hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. Pre-registration is required by May 5, as space is limited. To register, call AIAG at 248/358-3003.

Founded in 1982, AIAG is a not-for-profit trade association of over 1,500 automotive and truck manufacturers and their suppliers. AIAG's purpose is to provide an open forum where members cooperate in developing and promoting solutions that enhance the prosperity of the automotive industry. Its focus is to continuously improve business processes and practices involving trading partners throughout the supply chain.
