Miller Canfield's Annual Labor and Employment Law Seminar

April 13, 2005

Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. announces the details of its Annual Labor and Employment Law Seminar, co-sponsored by the Kalamazoo Regional Chamber of Commerce. On Wednesday, April 27 from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Fetzer Center at Western Michigan University, presentations and interactive workshops will provide important legal and practical updates on a wide range of topics for human resources professionals, corporate counsel, and business executives who need to stay current on fast-changing labor and employment laws, regulations, and practices.

“Employers face a variety of legal challenges when trying to manage the workplace, especially given that employees are becoming ever more assertive, vocal, and litigious,” said Kurt N. Sherwood, Miller Canfield labor and employment attorney and coordinator of this year's seminar. “This seminar will provide attendees with useful strategies and tools for today's workplace issues – from Proposal 2 to the Fair Labor Standards Act, military leave, and document retention issues.”

Other topics to be discussed include OSHA workplace health and safety issues, ADA/FMLA/workers compensation, benefits, corporate records management, and non-compete and confidentiality agreements. A special feature of the seminar is lunch with Robert G. Miller, vice president for community outreach at Western Michigan University.

Cost is $80 per person and includes a continental breakfast, lunch and seminar materials. For more information or to register, visit www.millercanfield.com, or contact Jamie Sackett at 269/382-0244 or sackett@millercanfield.com.

This seminar has been approved for 5.75 recertification credit hours toward PHR and SPHR recertification through the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI). For more information about certification or recertification, please visit the HRCI homepage at www.hrci.org.
