Kareem Gibson is an associate in Miller Canfield's Financial Services Group. He represents national, regional and local financial institutions in real estate, construction, working capital, and equipment financing, including syndicated transactions, motor vehicle floor planning, U.S. Export-Import Bank supported credit facilities, government-supported financings and asset-based lending. He assists in the preparation, drafting, and negotiation of a variety of commercial loan documents including secured, unsecured, and asset-backed agreements.

Kareem's transactional experience includes representing financial institutions in all aspects of real estate finance, including reviewing leases, organizational documents, title and survey. He also helps financial institutions review policies, documents, and transactions for regulatory and compliance matters.

Representative Matters

SBA Lending

  • Represented a regional bank in multiple SBA 7(a) and SBA 504 financings for local Michigan businesses in several industries, including, without limitation, the education, manufacturing, and waste sectors.

Ex-Im Bank Supported Financing

  • Represented national and regional banks providing domestic and foreign credit facilities to businesses supported by domestic and foreign subsidiaries and the U.S. Ex-Im Bank.

Regulatory

  • Reviewed private flood insurance flood policies for compliance with the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968, Flood Disaster Protection Act of 1973, the Biggert Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012, and the FEMA Standard Flood Insurance Policies.
