James Claborn represents property owners, developers, contractors, lenders, businesses, and individuals in a wide range of real estate and construction matters. He advises clients throughout the lifecycle of real estate and construction projects, including acquisitions, dispositions, financing transactions, contract negotiations, project planning, operational issues, and dispute avoidance.

Prior to joining Miller Canfield, James served as Corporate Counsel for BELFOR Property Restoration, where he was the lead transactional attorney supporting the company's North American operations. He advised executives and business teams on hundreds of commercial agreements each year, including construction contracts, service agreements, leases, acquisitions, and other complex transactions. His in-house experience provides valuable insight into the legal, operational, and business considerations that drive real estate and construction projects.

Clients value James's responsive, collaborative approach and his ability to translate complex legal issues into practical, actionable guidance. He focuses on understanding each client's business objectives and delivering strategic solutions that help clients move forward with confidence.
