Miller Canfield Welcomes Litigation Attorney Kevin McQuillan to Its Detroit Office

Miller Canfield is pleased to announce that Kevin A. McQuillan has joined the firm as a senior attorney in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group.

McQuillan’s practice is focused on medical malpractice defense and he brings more than a decade of experience representing major healthcare providers in high-stakes civil matters.

McQuillan joins Miller Canfield from Kerr Russell in Detroit. He has handled a high volume of cases across Michigan, and brings significant pretrial, trial, and appellate experience. McQuillan also has represented municipal governments and public officials in complex civil rights litigation involving police use of force, deliberate indifference, employment disputes, land use, and constitutional claims.

A seasoned appellate advocate, McQuillan has briefed and argued cases before the Michigan Court of Appeals and has authored briefing submitted to the Michigan Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has achieved successful and noteworthy outcomes in matters involving constitutional rights and government liability.

“Kevin is an exceptional litigator with a strong record of results for healthcare providers and public-sector clients alike,” Miller Canfield CEO Michael Palizzi said. “His experience, particularly in complex medical malpractice and civil rights matters, will be a tremendous asset to our clients.”

McQuillan is a graduate of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) National Trial College and the FBI Citizens Academy, Detroit Field Office. He earned his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School, where he was a member of the Moot Court National Team and winner of the Arthur Neef competition. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan.

McQuillan will be based in Miller Canfield’s Detroit office.
