Labor and Employment Attorneys Doug Callander and Leigh Callander Join Miller Canfield
Miller Canfield announced today that it is expanding its labor and employment practice with the addition of two attorneys in Kalamazoo. Douglas L. Callander joins Miller Canfield as a senior attorney and Leigh M. Callander joins as an associate.
Miller Canfield’s Labor and Employment Group is one of the largest in the state and is ranked first tier in Michigan by the prestigious legal guide, Chambers USA. In the 2008 edition, Chambers noted, “Commentators generally praise the team as ‘a top-notch outfit. When you look at its client base and its ability to work in tandem with other departments, you can’t deny it’s one of the best.’”
Douglas L. Callander represents public and private employers in the state and federal courts, labor relation boards and administrative agencies. He was leader of the labor and employment and litigation sections at his previous firm. His experience includes negotiating over 250 collective bargaining agreements and arbitrating more than 150 employment claims. He is a highly rated litigator who has successfully defended numerous lawsuits in multiple states. He has been an active member of many community Boards and projects over his 33 plus years of practice. He received his J.D. from the University of Detroit School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Michigan. He resides in Richland, Michigan.
Leigh M Callander specializes in employment law and consultation and civil litigation, including discrimination, harassment, products liability, and commercial and premise liability cases. She received her J.D. with honors from Chicago-Kent College of Law and her B.A. in Communications from the University of Michigan. She is a resident of Kalamazoo and serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Volunteer Center of Greater Kalamazoo.
Both join Miller Canfield from Kreis, Enderle, Callander & Hudgins of Kalamazoo.
