Miller Canfield Staff Members Elected and Honored

Four staff members from the Detroit office of the law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. have been elected to positions with NALS of Detroit for 2002-3.

Kathleen Klish has been elected vice-president and treasurer, and was honored by a membership vote as Legal Professional of the Year. Additionally, she is the Standing Committee Chair for Finance and Co-chair of the NALS of Michigan 2003 Annual Meeting to be held at the Novi Hilton, Novi, Michigan in May 2003.

Vernelle J. Aiyela, Linda A. Cox, and Vanessa A. Lozzi were elected to the board of directors. Other members from the Detroit office include Mary E. Borsenik, Brenda L. Emmett, Joanne C. Kalapinski, Shirley A. Markulin, and Denise E. Schneider.

Personnel from the Kalamazoo office who are members of the Greater Kalamazoo Association of Legal Support Professionals Chapter include Jamie L. Henby and Nancy L. Thomas, PLS, co-chairs of NALS of Michigan 2002 Annual Meeting Committee; Patricia A. Conor, PLS, Rebeccah L. Cornwell, CPS, Pamela S. Wilcox, Patricia A. Jager, and Eileen J. Bagley.

Patricia D. VanHemert, PLS, of the Grand Rapids office, is a member of the NALS of West Michigan Chapter, and chair of the Professional of the Year Committee. Beth J. Helmboldt also is a member.

NALS of Michigan was founded in 1960 and presently has 14 chapters. The national association (NALS) was founded in 1949 and is headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The tri-level association is dedicated to enhancing the competencies and contributions of members in the legal services profession.
