Miller Canfield Members Elected to Leadership Positions in State Bar of Michigan's Legal Administrator Section

The law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. announces that William J. Parsons, director of administrative and human resources, was recently elected to a one-year term as president of the Legal Administrator Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and Joseph W. Thimm, senior controller, was elected to a one-year term as secretary-treasurer of the Section.

William J. Parsons has worked in the legal administration field for more than 25 years. He is a member of the Association of Legal Administrators, the Legal Assistant Managers Association and an associate Member of the American Bar Association. He currently serves on the Oakland University paralegal program advisory board and has lectured and written on law firm management issues for the Michigan Institute of Continuing Legal Education. He received his M.A. and B.A., magna cum laude, from Western Michigan University and is a member of the Western Michigan University Foundation. He resides in Plainwell, Michigan.

Joseph W. Thimm has over 20 years’ experience in financial and operational activities within service industries, including experience in financial analysis and reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and payroll. He is a member of the Boy Scouts of America, and a member of the Finance Committee for Church of the Holy Family. He also is co-treasurer of the Novi High School Band Boosters. He holds a M.B.A. in finance and a B.B.A. in business administration and accounting from Wayne State University. He resides in Novi, Michigan.

The Legal Administrator Section of the State Bar of Michigan provides information and education regarding legal administrative and management matters. Membership in the Section is open to all active members of the State Bar of Michigan and all affiliate members who are actively involved in the performance or teaching of administrative or managerial duties with a private law firm, corporate legal department, government, judicial or legal agency, educational institution or other organization devoted primarily to the practice or teaching of law, and meet educational/experience requirements.
