October 21, 2004

The law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. announces its next Morning Update – “A Practical Guide to Discipline and Discharge,” on Wednesday, November 10, from 8:00-9:00 a.m. Miller Canfield labor and employment law attorney, Beverly Hall Burns, will discuss ways for human resources professionals to reduce their organizations’ exposure for liability. She will also present a framework for employers to effect legally defensible discipline and the lawful discharge of employees.

“Discipline and discharge are important tools for managing the workplace, and unfortunately, it will never be risk free,” said Burns, deputy chief executive officer of Miller Canfield, and a frequent speaker on employment-relations matters. “Employers should understand the associated legal risks to reduce their liability and increase their line of defense, and we will present those risks in an information-packed sixty minutes.”
