Miller Canfield Lawyer Michael Traison Receives America-Israel Chamber of Commerce-Chicago Sandler Award

Michael H. Traison, a principal in the Chicago and Detroit offices of the law firm of Miller Canfield, received the 2012 Martin Sandler Award from the America-Israel Chamber of Commerce Chicago (AICC) for his efforts and achievements in advancing AICC and its mission of fostering business links between the U.S. and Israel. He received the honor on October 17 at the AICC Awards & Celebration Dinner at The Standard Club in Chicago.

Traison currently serves as senior vice president of the AICC Chicago. He is a past president of the AICC Michigan. At Miller Canfield, he helps businesses solve their commercial problems, from litigation to issues of debtors and creditors’ committees in Chapter 11 reorganizations, and in out-of-court workouts. He represents clients with interests throughout the world with a special focus on Israel, Poland, Czech Republic and elsewhere in Eastern Europe.

In addition to his service to the AICC, Traison is also on the board of trustees of the Polish American Chamber of Commerce; board of governors of the International Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists, headquartered in Israel; boards of State of Israel Bonds Organization; Jewish National Fund and is an executive board member of the Polish American Association, one of America’s largest social service agencies serving the Polish American Community.  Along with another Miller Canfield attorney, he recently was awarded the Humanitarian Award by Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel. In addition to international legal work at Miller Canfield, Traison has focused for three decades on debtor creditor law and represents creditors and debtors in distressed business cases.

He received both his M.Ed. and Ph.B. from Wayne State University and his J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law.

The America-Israel Chamber of Commerce Chicago was founded in 1958 to develop business relationships between U.S. and Israeli companies and facilitate global business contacts.
