Marisa also handles wrongful termination actions, including claims arising under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Persons with Disabilities Civil Rights Act (PWDCRA), and Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act (ELCRA).

On the litigation side, her practice includes defending premises liability and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) matters. Marisa also advises her clients on dispute‑resolution strategies and conducts targeted legal research on complex and narrow procedural issues, with a focus on interpreting statutory and case law.

Marisa’s diverse background includes professional experience prior to law school, and participation in the Asylum and Immigration Law Clinic (AILC) at Wayne State University Law School, as well as a semester in a study-abroad program in Dublin while earning her bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan.

At Wayne State Law, Marisa held leadership roles, serving as co-chair of the Wayne Law Diversity Coalition and as director of diversity and inclusion for the Women’s Law Caucus. She was also an assistant editor for the Wayne Law Review. Marisa’s dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession continues to shape her practice today.
