Derek Raymond represents businesses and individuals in state and federal court in all aspects of real estate and commercial litigation. Derek has argued in various state courts, appeals courts, and zoning boards. His experience includes cases involving the following:

  • Contract and lease disputes
  • Commercial landlord / tenant disputes and evictions
  • Construction and lien disputes
  • Mortgage foreclosure and banking litigation
  • Easement and right-of-way disputes
  • Eminent domain, tax sales, and quiet title
  • Breach of implied and express warranties
  • Zoning and land use

Derek's experience includes handling commercial disputes in Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and Utah. He has significant case management experience, including investigations; identifying and evaluating potential claims and defenses; drafting and responding to discovery requests; overseeing ESI extractions, reviews and productions; identifying and retaining expert witnesses; and formulating strategies to create leverage during the lifespan of cases.

Derek previously served as a judicial law clerk for the Hon. Judge Craig Bobay of the Indiana Commercial Court and the Hon. Thomas J. Felts of the Allen County (IN) Circuit Court, as well as a summer law clerk for the Hon. Marianne Battani of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. He graduated from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where he was the Notes Editor of the Indiana Journal of Law and Social Equality, Treasurer of the Protective Order Project's Executive Board, and a member of the Elmore Entrepreneurship Law Clinic.
