Miller Canfield Attorney James Liggins Jr. Appointed to State Bar of Michigan Committee on Civil Discovery

January 13, 2017

Miller Canfield attorney James L. Liggins Jr. has been appointed to the State Bar of Michigan’s Special Committee on Civil Discovery Court Review and will serve as chair of its subcommittee on rules regarding expert witnesses.

The committee consists of practitioners, academics, judicial and administrative attorneys and judges. The members review proposed revisions to the Michigan Court Rules dealing with the civil discovery process to address the expense and burden of civil discovery, including technology considerations on civil discovery and the organization of the rules.

“James is a fine litigator and an asset to the firm. His colleagues at Miller Canfield are tremendously proud that he is willing to do this work, which will help shape the future of the rules that govern our practices within the state,” said Miller Canfield CEO Michael McGee.

At the end of 2017, the committee will recommend amendments to be decided by the Michigan Supreme Court.
