Matt Steele represents national, regional and local bank and non-bank lenders in a variety of finance matters including real estate, working capital, asset-based, government-supported and equipment financing. In addition to single lender transactions, Matt counsels administrative agents, lead banks and participants in a variety of syndicated facilities. His experience includes portfolio investments as well as investments intended for securitization, and spans all phases of a transaction, from negotiation, documentation and closing to post-closing administration, loan modifications, and workouts and restructuring.
Matt represents financial institutions and special servicers in all stages of commercial real estate workout and foreclosures for both securitized and portfolio loans, and counsels court-appointed receivers in all aspects of property management and disposition.
In addition to his financial services practice, Matt also represents sellers, purchasers, owners, landlords and tenants in a broad array of commercial real estate transactions including purchase and sales, development, leasing, management, title and construction.
Prior to rejoining Miller Canfield, Matt served as an Assistant General Counsel and Vice President for Fifth Third Bank, where he was responsible for commercial lines of business with more than $25 billion in lending assets and supported the loan closing team and special assets group.
