Barbara Moore's practice focuses primarily on employment issues related to workplace policies, claims of discrimination and mistreatment in the workplace, and wage and hour compliance. Barbara's passion for understanding and interpreting employment-related laws and regulations, coupled with her interest in assisting clients in adhering to such laws and regulations, have driven her career objective to provide clients with creative and cost-effective solutions to workplace issues.
Barbara previously worked at the National Housing Law Project, where she spent significant time researching and writing about foreclosure statutes, and served as a legal intern with the Michigan House of Representatives. During law school, she was a student-attorney in the Community and Economic Development Clinic, where she first discovered her interest in Labor and Employment law by advising a start-up entrepreneur on various state and federal employment laws.
Representative Matters
Barbara's labor and employment experience includes:
- Reviewing and revising employee handbooks.
- Advising clients on various employment law matters related the Family Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII, and the Payment of Wages and Fringe Benefits Act, and applicable state statutes and regulations.
- Reviewing employee paid leave policies and advising clients on compliance with Michigan's Paid Medical Leave Act (PMLA) and comparable state statutes.
- Assisting employers in the interpretation and application of medical and newly-enacted recreational marijuana statutes to their work environments.
