Miller Canfield attorneys have been intrinsically involved with the Michigan State Housing Development Authority since its creation in 1966 to date. In addition to serving as bond counsel to the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, the Illinois Housing Development Authority and the City of Chicago Housing Development Authority, we have also served as underwriter’s counsel and special tax counsel for clients in Illinois and other Midwest states.

We provide knowledgeable counsel in all aspects of bond financings concerning single-family and multi-family housing financings, mortgage subsidy financing, construction and equipment financing, refunding issues, cash flow financings, variable rate and put bonds, capital appreciation bonds, conduit and other pass-through transactions, industrial development and private activity bonds, interest rate swaps, commercial paper programs and various pool financings, both taxable and tax-exempt. In addition, Miller Canfield attorneys work on financings involving various HUD programs, credit enhancement by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and financings involving various forms of credit enhancement and liquidity facilities.
