CyberAttacks On U.S. Businesses 'Widespread, Costly and Commonplace' According to FBI Study

A survey conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation reveals that ninety percent of businesses and governmental agencies experienced some type of hacker attack in 2001, however, only a third of those attacks were reported to authorities. Eighty-five percent of businesses reported detecting computer viruses on their networks. The survey recommends that, among other things, businesses update their disaster recovery plans, purchase electronic business insurance and establish a chief security officer.
