CyberAttacks On U.S. Businesses 'Widespread, Costly and Commonplace' According to FBI Study
April 8, 2002A survey conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation reveals that ninety percent of businesses and governmental agencies experienced some type of hacker attack in 2001, however, only a third of those attacks were reported to authorities. Eighty-five percent of businesses reported detecting computer viruses on their networks. The survey recommends that, among other things, businesses update their disaster recovery plans, purchase electronic business insurance and establish a chief security officer.
