Amazon's "1 Click" Patent to be Re-examined by U.S. Patent Office
June 1, 2006Back in March, 1998, Amazon.com was awarded a patent for its "1-Click" online shopping check out system. In February, 2006, actor Peter Calveley petitioned the U.S. Patent Office to re-examine Amazon's patent after experiencing an "annoying slow" delivery of a purchase he made on Amazon. In seeking the re-examination, Calveley cited a 1998 patent for a system called "Digicash" whereby e-consumers could buy items with a single click.
