Texas Court Enjoins Unlawful "Scraping" of American Airlines Web site

A Texas trial judge issued a temporary restraining order against the developer of a global distribution system software that systematically ‘scraped’ flight schedules, fares and seating information without consent from American Airlines’ website. Among the information accessed were restricted fares available exclusively to visitors to the airline’s site. American Airlines had repeatedly demanded that the defendant cease and desist from retrieving information from its site. In addition to breaching the terms and conditions of the airline’s web site, the Court stated that the defendant’s actions may also violate Texas trespass laws.
