Blackberry Manufacturer Settles Patent Infringement Lawsuit

Research In Motion Limited (RIM), the maker of the Blackberry wireless e-mail device, has settled a longstanding patent infringement lawsuit brought by NTP, Inc. ("NTP"). RIM will pay NTP $450 million dollars in exchange for final dismissal of the lawsuit and a perpetual, fully-paid up license to RIM of any NTP technology utilized in the Blackberry products. The license allow RIM's customers an unfettered right to use the Blackberry devices without further threat from NTP.
