RFID Technology Criticized by Privacy Advocates

Radio frequency identification is regarded as the up and coming technology for retailers and other businesses interested in accurately tracking product inventories. RFID systems involve embedding antennae chips into products such that each object has a unique ID number. Critics of RFID systems, including more than 30 civil liberty groups throughout the world, argue that they threaten fundamental privacy rights if used improperly.
