Miller Canfield Elects Managing Directors

The law firm of Miller Canfield has elected Joseph M. Fazio and has re-elected Jerome R. Watson to serve two-year terms as managing directors, effective January 1, 2009.  They are part of a five-person management administration that works with the CEO to oversee the firm’s offices in the United States, Canada, Poland and China.

Joseph M. Fazio is a principal in the Real Estate Group in the Ann Arbor, Michigan office. His specific areas of expertise include complex commercial real estate acquisitions and developments, with extensive experience in ground leasing, entity formation, public/private development agreements, as well as conventional, securitized and tax-increment financing. He is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA and Michigan Super Lawyers for his real estate work. He received his B.A. from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School. He resides in Ann Arbor, where he has served on the boards of the Ann Arbor Art Center and Ann Arbor Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Jerome R. Watson is a principal in the Labor and Employment Group in the Detroit, Michigan office. He is chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee. He has a winning track record in litigating a variety of employment-related cases in such areas as discrimination, harassment, breach of contract, wrongful discharge and retaliation. He has also defended various constitutional challenges and employment class action lawsuits, as well as Freedom of Information Act and Open Meetings Act challenges. He is general counsel to the NAACP Michigan State Conference and is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and of the Michigan State Bar Foundation. He is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA and Michigan Super Lawyers for his work in labor and employment law. He received his B.A. from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. He resides in Detroit.
