Miller Canfield Elects New Principals

The law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. is pleased to announce that the following people have been elected principals of the firm, effective January 1, 2007.

Detroit, Michigan office:

Todd A. Holleman, from associate to principal. He specializes in appellate practice, securities litigation and arbitration, commercial contract disputes, construction litigation and equipment leasing litigation. He was one of five Michigan attorneys named as “Up and Coming” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly in 2004. He received his J.D., summa cum laude, from Wayne State University Law School and was a law clerk to the Honorable Marilyn J. Kelly of the Michigan Supreme Court from 1999-2000.

Edwin J. Lukas, from senior counsel to principal. He is a member of the firm’s Corporate and Securities and Automotive groups. He represents automotive manufacturers and suppliers, venture capital and other private equity funds, financial institutions, and other publicly and privately held businesses. He received his J.D. from the University of Detroit School of Law.

Jennifer L. Sabourin, from associate to principal. She is a member of the firm’s Labor and Employment Group, specializing in the defense of workplace discrimination, harassment and wage and hour claims. She often speaks on labor and employment law-related topics to members of various industry groups and the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. She also has conducted a number of in-house training programs for employees, management and human resources personnel. She received her J.D. from Wayne State University School of Law.

W. Scott Turnbull, from associate to principal. He practices in commercial, construction, and securities litigation with extensive experience in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution. He received his J.D. from the University of Detroit School of Law.

Kalamazoo, Michigan office:

Pamela C. Enslen, from senior counsel to principal. She is a member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group. She was formerly a principal from 1990-1999, and left the firm from 2000-2003 to perform public service law. She is active in numerous professional organizations and has served as a member of the Panel of Arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association, as well as a distinguished neutral for New York’s Center of Public Resources. She is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Wayne State University School of Law.

Jonathan P. O’Brien, Ph.D., from senior attorney to principal. He is a registered patent attorney and a member of the firm's Intellectual Property and Life Science & Biotechnology groups, specializing in patent and licensing matters. He represents large and small domestic and international pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, as well as companies focused on medical device, battery, and telecommunication products. He received his doctorate in chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law where he received a full merit scholarship.

Troy, Michigan office:

James L. Allen, from senior counsel to principal. He is a member of the Real Estate/Capital Markets practice group representing lenders in all phases of commercial real estate workouts and foreclosures, primarily in Michigan and Ohio. He earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan School of Law and his L.L.M. from Wayne State University.

Brian H. Holt, from associate to principal. He is a member of the Real Estate and Construction Industry groups representing owners and contractors in both commercial and residential construction transactions in Michigan and across the country. He received his law degree, cum laude, from Notre Dame Law School.

Amy M. Johnston, from senior attorney to principal. She is an experienced lead trial lawyer in complex commercial, product liability, business, franchise and personal injury matters, primarily for corporate defendants. She is named in Michigan Super Lawyers 2006 and Marquis Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders 2007, and was recently invited to serve as a Fellow in the American Academy of Trial Counsel. She graduated cum laude from University of Detroit School of Law.

Alison H. Rodney, from associate to principal. She practices in the areas of product safety and product liability defense. She received her law degree, magna cum laude, from Wayne State University School of Law where she was a member of the Order of the Coif.

Windsor, Ontario office:

Jennifer L. Shilson, from associate to principal. She practices in the areas of corporate and commercial transactions. She received her LL.B. from the University of Windsor.
