Miller Canfield Lawyers Participate in ABA-Israel Bar Association Conference in Israel

June 17, 2013

Miller Canfield lawyers Michael H. Traison and Jeffrey M. Drake, both of the Chicago office, participated in the 4th Annual American Bar Association Section of International Law & Israel Bar Association’s Joint Conference on Law, Business and Technology, May 26-29, 2013, in Eilat, Israel.

Traison served as the program chair and moderator for “A Conversation among Insolvency Professionals: The Impact of Insolvency Remedies on International Business and Technology,” which featured a discussion in both English and Hebrew on how lawyers for companies in high-technology industries protect their clients’ interests and respond to distressed debtor situations.

Drake participated as a panel member for “International Intellectual Property and Dispute Resolution Update.” He discussed recent changes in U.S. patent law and how those changes can affect Israeli companies doing business in the U.S.

Traison holds dual U.S. and Israeli citizenship and is a principal at Miller Canfield. He helps businesses solve their commercial problems – from litigation to issues of debtors and creditors’ committees in Chapter 11 reorganizations and in out-of-court workouts. He represents clients with interests throughout the world with a special focus on Israel, Poland, the Czech Republic and elsewhere in Eastern Europe. He is the current president of the America-Israel Chamber of Commerce (AICC) Chicago, a past president of the AICC Michigan and is on the board of governors of the International Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists.

Drake is a senior attorney at Miller Canfield. He helps clients to procure and enforce patents, copyrights, trademarks and other forms of intellectual property.  He has experience in many different technologies and industries, including pharmaceutical compositions, animal health products, power tools, medical devices, telecommunications, sports equipment, pressure seal mailers, motorcycles, and automobile aftermarket collision replacement products.
