Miller Canfield Attorney Re-Elected to BC/CAL/KAL Inland Port Development Corporation Board of Directors and Executive Committee

The law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. announces that Eric V. Brown, Jr., principal in the firm’s Kalamazoo office, was recently re-elected to a two-year term on the board of directors and executive committee of the BC/CAL/KAL Inland Port Development Corporation, which operates Foreign Trade Zone 43 and is located in the Fort Custer Industrial Park near Battle Creek, Michigan. Brown has been a member of the board and executive committee since 1988.

Brown is a broad-based business counselor whose legal practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, business combinations, joint ventures, corporate governance, and corporate finance. Currently, he is the group leader of the firm's West Michigan Business Practice Group and a member of the Automotive Industry Group. From 1985-1992, he was a managing partner, and he has held the position of resident director, Kalamazoo office, 1991-1996, and chairman of the firm, 1988-1991.

He has served as an advisor and counselor in a substantial number of business transactions for both private and public companies as well as the organization of a bank, a bank holding company, and a venture capital firm.

He has been active in the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association for the last 10 years, including participation as a regular member of the Negotiated Acquisitions Committee. He is listed in the Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Securities Law Section of the 2003-04 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.

A resident of Kalamazoo, he received his law degree from the University of Michigan.
