Miller Canfield Provides Assistance to Handicapped Warsaw Law Student

June 25, 2001

The International Association of Jewish Lawyers and Judges (Polish Section) was asked by the United States Embassy to monetarily assist a second-year handicapped law student from Warsaw, Poland to attend the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition held in April in Washington, D.C.

In addition to assistance granted by the IAJLJ, the law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. presented the student, Rafal Strzalkowski, with a $500 check, according to Michael H. Traison , a principal in Miller Canfield's Detroit office and a member of the IAJLJ. A message from Rafal to Mr. Traison stated in part "Miller Canfield's input as the only legal firm that bothered with my problem will not be forgotten. Thank you for your personal involvement as well." Rafal was also invited to attend a monthly dinner meeting to speak about his experiences at the Jessup competition.

Miller Canfield's offices in Gdynia, Katowice, and Warsaw, Poland, and the IAJLJ are extremely supportive of students' efforts to advance themselves and consistently encourage students to increase their legal skills. Not only was Miller Canfield instrumental in the founding of the IAJLJ, but its offices in Poland are frequently involved in numerous community activities.
