Miller Canfield Attorney Named to Leadership Detroit XXVI Class

The selection committee of Leadership Detroit has accepted Miller Canfield attorney, Anna M. Maiuri, as a member of the 2004-2005 Leadership Detroit XXVI Class. Leadership Detroit is a highly competitive, nationally recognized program that provides the knowledge and skills needed for effective leadership. It challenges emerging and existing community leaders to bring about positive change in the community through informed leadership.

Maiuri joins approximately 30 Miller Canfield attorneys and professional staff members who have participated in and graduated from leadership programs, including those of Leadership Ann Arbor, Detroit, Kalamazoo, and Oakland, as well as Michigan State University's Michigan Political Leadership Program, and Leadership Pensacola in Florida.

At Miller Canfield, Maiuri is a principal and deputy group leader of the Environmental and Regulatory Group. She practices environmental law with an emphasis on brownfield redevelopments and regulatory compliance audits. She has extensive experience in helping corporations, business owners, and operators assess environmental liabilities when purchasing, selling, or leasing assets. She also is a member of the firm's Automotive Industry Group and has experience analyzing issues specifically related to environmental regulations applicable to OEM and Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers.

She received her law degree from Wayne State University Law School, where she served as an assistant editor of the Wayne Law Review. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan and served for over six years as an elected 6th Circuit Representative to the Michigan State Bar Representative Assembly.

She has been active in several civic and charitable organizations including Automation Alley, the Troy Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, and the National Kidney Foundation.

She resides in Troy, Michigan.
