Miller Canfield is pleased to announce that CEO Megan Norris was named on the Crain's Detroit Business 100 Most Influential Women in Michigan list, which is published once every five years.

The list includes leaders in state and federal government, nonprofits and some of Michigan's largest and most impactful businesses, who are selected based on the significance of their contributions and level of impact in their communities and businesses.

Saying she is "humbled and honored to be included," Norris said in her interview with Crain's that she initially considered being a professional musician, but a legal career has proven to be a wonderful alternative: "Law is a really good job for me. It requires that you be reasonably intelligent, which I think I am. It requires that you deal with people and that you can handle public speaking."

Norris, who became Miller Canfield's first female CEO when she was appointed in February, also discussed the evolution of opportunities for women at the firm over her tenure: "The women who were successful, to my mind, played the men's game. They wore the same suits. They fought the same fights. Many of them sacrificed a lot personally because that's what they thought they had to do. I think that's different now. People don't think of me as a woman. I'm just an employee. We're very different in how we work, in how we dress, in how we balance home and work."

Congratulations, Megan!
