Miller Canfield, an international law firm, is seeking a Reference Librarian to assist with the daily operations of Library Services in the Detroit office.
Job Description:
Responsible for cost-effective legal and non-legal research to support all practice areas of the Firm. Skilled in using current awareness tools. Able to conduct effective reference interviews to streamline the research process. Responsible for contributing to the development and organization of the library collection and database. Handles interlibrary loan functions. Delivers in-house training and outreach to legal staff.
Knowledge of Firm operations, policies and procedures and of legal and non-legal information sources. Proficient in the use of Westlaw, Intelliconnect, RIA Checkpoint, Dun & Bradstreet and other databases, as well as Excel spreadsheets.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, work under pressure, take initiative, perform as a team player, organize and prioritize work, deal courteously with others and meet deadlines.
Qualified candidates must possess a Master's Degree in Library Science and a minimum of 3 years of law or corporate library experience. The Reference Librarian will report to the Director of Library Services.
