Tamira specializes in information technology, health information technology and entertainment law. She offers her clients both a corporate and legal perspective when it comes to protecting their interest and competitive advantage. This dual approach gives clients a unique strategic perspective and allows her to anticipate common legal pitfalls before they surface.
For business clients with technology needs, Tamira can negotiate and draft software licenses, maintenance and application service provider agreements. She can also draft terms of use, applicable use and privacy policies to protect clients doing business on the Internet.
For clients looking to protect or defend their brand, Tamira can help secure and safeguard intellectual capital in the United States and abroad. This capital includes copyrights, trademarks, word marks, service marks, domain names and other related rights. In the event re-capturing intellectual capital becomes necessary, she can aggressively pursue rights in full or abbreviated litigation. From drafting a cease and desist letter to an alleged infringer, filing an action with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) or drafting a complaint, she stands ready to help conclude with order and settlement.
For health care professionals, Tamira can help on the front end with development of and revision to breach notification policies, patient rights policies and business associate agreements (BAA). In addition she can also offer compliance training to employees, providers and other staff on the new changes to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). She can also counsel healthcare professionals seeking to obtain Electronic Healthcare Record (EHR) incentives.
For creative talents, Tamira can negotiate and review non-disclosure, entertainment and merchandising agreements and sponsorship endorsements.
“I’m known for my resolute position when protecting my client's intellectual capital. Regardless of the matter, I am prepared to aid the client from brainstorming to fruition.”
Tamira Cason Chapman

The client engaged Miller Canfield a year in advance and she was part of a team that organized the agreements, illuminated the deficiencies and drafted terms to protect their client’s interests.
“I helped our client provide technology services such as telephone, Internet and cable to over 50 affiliates located throughout the United States.”
Tamira represented a top-ranked athlete in recent contract negotiations with a national sports promotion company. The client engaged Tamira to review relevant contracts, sponsorships and endorsements. She negotiated key terms to safeguard the client's creative talents.
