Specializing in energy and telecommunications law, Sherri A. Wellman practices before the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC). She represents electric, gas and telecommunications utilities and other business clients in all aspects of regulatory and corporate transactions.
Sherri files pleadings on behalf of her clients, represents them in hearings and settlement conferences, and keeps them up to date on MPSC-related statutes, rules and regulations and orders. At the appellate level, she defends or challenges MPSC orders in the courts.
“Effective representation means first identifying the problems and then resolving them with the most beneficial outcome in mind. My clients’ interests are my top priority. I make it a point to return all calls immediately and be available to my clients whenever they need me.”
Sherri A. Wellman
Experience
In two related cases before the Michigan Public Service Commission, Sherri successfully defended a natural gas utility against challenges to its gas purchasing practices by Michigan’s Attorney General and a residential consumer group. In all, the utility faced disallowances in excess of $10 million. Thanks to the work of Sherri and her team, the MPSC totally rejected the challenges in both cases.
“Based on our defenses, in the form of rebuttal testimony, cross-examination and briefs, the MPSC found that it was ‘not persuaded‘ by any of the proposed disallowances.”
