Jean-Vierre Adams has garnered extensive and broad legal experience in more than 15 years of practice.  She focuses her practice in three areas.  In her corporate practice, she advises clients on commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and global corporate reorganizations.  In the area of public law, she represents public schools, districts, and municipalities on contracting matters including the development of RFPs, contracts for outsourced services and inter-local and shared services agreements, policy formation, public finance matters, and general education law.   In real estate matters, she advises public and private entities on acquisitions and sales, residential and commercial land development, financings, and construction matters.

Jean-Vierre brings to the firm prior experience as the general counsel for a large urban school district, as corporate counsel for the investment banking division of a major banking institution, and as a former partner of another Detroit law firm.  Additionally, prior to practicing law, Jean-Vierre worked at a major investment firm in product marketing, institutional sales and as operations and compliance manager for two of its New York offices.  She draws upon that experience to represent clients in securities arbitration matters.

“My role is to provide solutions for clients on complex legal matters rather than simply advising on the confines of the law.”
Jean-Vierre Adams

Experience

Jean-Vierre has assisted Tier 1 automotive suppliers with commercial transactions and mergers and acquisitions in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and several EU nations.  She successfully led the defense of a public entity in a potential $300 million class action challenge to its taxing authority.  She has led a development project for a health care corporation in the construction of a new headquarters in midtown Detroit, including the acquisition of public and privately owned properties, negotiation of the development agreement with the City of Detroit, the drafting and negotiation of architect agreements and construction contracts, and private and public financing for the project.  She also recently represented a public school system in its school construction and renovation capital improvement program by drafting its program management agreement, advising on its form of construction contracts and general conditions, and with acquisitions and exchanges of properties between public entities.
