Gurinder J. Singh specializes in assisting clients with international transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic corporate structuring utilizing treaty-friendly jurisdictions, private placements, and private equity and venture funds. Gurinder chairs the firm’s India Team and thus focuses her practice on matters relating to India.
Gurinder frequently advises clients on compliance with U.S. regulations affecting companies doing business internationally, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulation, Foreign Investment in the United States Act (as amended by the Exon-Florio Amendment), the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Export Administration Regulation, the U.S. anti-boycott regulations, and others. She has helped several foreign clients acquiring U.S. businesses successfully obtain clearance from the Committee of Foreign Investment in the United States, U.S. Department of Treasury.
As an engineer and former business owner, Gurinder brings a unique perspective to each of her matters and is able to assist companies with a wide range of business needs.

Gurinder Singh
Gurinder is an active member of the U.S. India Business Counsel, TiE Tri-State, Asia Society of New York, South Asian Bar Association of New York, Asian Bar Association of New York, Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce, Association for Corporate Growth – New York chapter, and the India Committee of the International Law Section of the American Bar Association. She is a former board member of TiE-Detroit and co-chair of TiECon Midwest and a former board member of South Asian Bar Association of Michigan. Gurinder is also a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences involving matters relating to India.
With an in-depth knowledge of Indian culture and fluency in both Hindi and Punjabi, Gurinder knows the ropes when it comes to doing business in India. When necessary, she calls for the assistance from her network of local Indian attorneys to provide seamless service to her clients.
Experience
Gurinder’s work relating to India includes advising U.S. companies, including private equity and venture funds, on how to invest into projects in India, acquire companies in India or enter into Indian markets through strategic arrangements including joint ventures and franchising. On behalf of U.S. clients, Gurinder has negotiated agreements with Indian companies, including arbitration provisions and choice of law. She has also helped Indian companies establish operations in the U.S., file for necessary regulatory approvals, and help conduct legal due diligence on U.S. businesses.
