Gayla Houser works with attorneys and practice group leaders to identify and implement strategic business growth goals worldwide.
She and the other members of the business development team also produce targeted marketing and communication tools and resources; timely seminars and creative client events; plus energetic public relations, leadership and brand building activities. Industry initiatives span global automotive and next generation vehicles; emerging sectors; economic development including public private partnerships; and international investment in the U.S., Canada, China, Mexico and Poland.
She also helps attorneys align business and professional goals with the leadership needs of business, professional, industry and civic organizations. She is on the board of the Canada-U.S. Business Association (CUSBA) and steering committee of MichAuto.
Gayla brought more than 20 years in business association management to Miller Canfield when joining the firm in 2002. She was the President and CEO of the Troy, Michigan Chamber of Commerce for 14 years and Vice President of Detroit's Central Business District Association (now the Greater Downtown Partnership.)
She is the Board President of newschoolhigh and has served on the volunteer boards of the Auburn Hills and Southern Wayne County Chambers of Commerce; the Advisory Council for Automation Alley's International Business Services group; and the Ambassador Committee for Oakland Medical Main Street. In 2012, she received the 2012 Advocate of the Year Award from the Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce.
