Charles E. Saulino handles a variety of litigation matters in both state and federal courts in Michigan and across the United States. He has represented clients in cases involving claims for antitrust violations, unfair trade practices, copyright infringement, labor and employment discrimination, product liability and breach of contract. Charlie has also participated in several pre-merger antitrust reviews.

As a member of the Firm's Electronic Discovery + Records Management team, he has gained substantial experience in the identification, preservation, review and production of electronic documents in litigation and other proceedings. His work has included the supervision of large discovery efforts and the resolution of disputes relating to electronic discovery issues. He also consults with clients regarding the development and implementation of records management programs and discovery response plans.

Experience

He has supervised reviews by teams of attorneys for responsiveness, privilege, confidentiality, and substantive issues, for cases involving defense of a Fortune Global 100 business technology company for antitrust, unfair trade practices and copyright infringement claims; a Department of Justice federal antitrust subpoena against a Fortune Global 500 medical device manufacturer; defense of a Fortune Global 100 automobile manufacturer for disparate treatment, age/race discrimination and ERISA; and for the product liability defense of a drug manufacturer.

Charles has participated in discovery collection and review projects for premerger antitrust review by the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, and for responsiveness and privilege review in Second Requests for mergers of major oil and gas companies and major telecommunications companies.

In addition, he has assisted a major telecommunications company in evaluation, categorization, summarization and organization of contracts with residential landlords as well as an automobile manufacturer in evaluation of dealership contracts.

Representative Matters

  • Automobile Parts Manufacturer Electronic Discovery + Records Management

    Designed review protocol, organized the collection and review of hard copy documents, interviewed IT personnel to plan an electronic document and email collection, and conducted custodian interviews for defense of an automobile parts manufacturer in a warranty dispute.

  • Food Producer Business Contracts

    Assisted a Fortune 500 producer of consumer foods on drafting and modifying business contracts, including counseling personnel on legal considerations important to negotiations and interpretations of existing contracts.
