Andrew Zinman’s expertise covers the broad range of Labour Relations Board proceedings including certifications and de-certifications, unfair labour practice complaints, strikes, lockouts, and bad-faith bargaining complaints. He is experienced with collective bargaining and grievance settlement as well as regularly acting as management spokesperson at the bargaining table. He has advised employers on strategy, communications and collective agreement language, the interpretation of collective agreements and the development of strategies and employee communications for non-union employers facing organizing drives. As a litigator, he has represented clients at mediation and arbitration in many forms of labour board proceedings. He has also pursued client’s interests in employment litigation including complaints before Employment Standards, Human Rights complaints and wrongful dismissal actions.
"I believe that being a proactive employer reduces the cost and frequency of arbitration and litigation. I work with clients to develop employment contracts, along with the approach an employer must follow in carrying out a termination, the duty of good faith dealings, and the nuances of determining a sensible severance package."
